The Atelier Taper Candleholder

The Atelier Taper Candleholder

Exclusive to Tidelands House

A ritual object commissioned exclusively for our atelier and crafted in a limited run by our regional ceramist. A quiet companion for evening light, bedside ritual, and atmospheric tables.

Each candleholder is hand thrown and individually signed, finished in a soft matte off white glaze inspired by aged ironstone and historic European taper stands. The silhouette is traditional and enduring, with a low saucer base, upright candle socket, and a classical thumb loop for carrying from room to room.

Designed specifically for slender tapers and especially beautiful with our hand dipped monastery beeswax candles from Québec, the socket measures approximately 9 mm and holds narrow candles securely.

The form is modest yet architectural, reminiscent of early ironstone chambersticks and farmhouse altar lights.

• Approximate diameter 3.85 inches

Because each holder is hand thrown, slight variation in glaze, contour, and weight is expected and cherished.

Crafted in small numbers for our studio.

Slender Monastery Beeswax Tapers

We also offer our slender beeswax taper candles, handcrafted for our atelier by a monastère québécois using raw organic wax with a pure cotton core. Each taper measures approximately 23 cm in length and is thoughtfully matched to the proportions of this candleholder for a refined and balanced silhouette.

The socket of the holder is intentionally made a touch generous to allow for natural wax build up over time. Because pure beeswax is rich with propolis and royal jelly, it remains supple and gently malleable. If ever a taper feels slightly slender in the opening, it may be softly pressed into place, or secured with a small drop of melted wax in the base.

Available in hand wrapped bundles of ten candles, or as a single taper.

We recognize the stolen land on which our stillroom resides as the traditional territory of the Attawandaron, the Huron Wendat Nation, and the Grand River Métis Council.

We will forever hold space for our deepest gratitude and appreciation of the Indigenous peoples who have worked and lived on this sacred ground since time immortal.
